News Ticker

Welcome to my blog. This is a space I use to write mostly about one of my biggest passions: the arts. Here you’ll find reviews and sometimes some opinion pieces. This is a space for me to showcase my style of writing, but also to keep up writing practise for when I’m not writing for a publication. Hopefully you’ll find me witty, sometimes a little grouchy, but always informed, honest and fair. Read on, MacDuff.

Don’t forget you can follow me on Twitter: @GrumpyYoungGay. Essentially I’m as dull as everyone else on there, but every so often I post something mildly interesting.

Also if you’d like me to write about your show or contribute to your publication, just contact me on See the “Portfolio” page for examples of some of my work.

    Hello James,

Nice to meet you here. I am the Producer of In The Dead of Night, a new play running at the Landor Theatre until 16 May.

I would be delighted if you could come to see and review our show.

A film noir concept, live onstage, starring Judith Paris (Doctor Who, The Devils), directed by Claudio Macor (The Tailor-Made Man), with a new score by Paul Boyd (Molly Wobbly) and choreographed dance sequences by Anthony Whiteman (Bel Ami).

Set in a run-down South American dockside bar in 1945, Macor has written a piece which echoes the style of the film noir era, but freed from the restraints of the notorious Hay’s Code censorship.

The show runs Tue – Sat 7:30pm, Sat & Sun 3pm

We all look forward to seeing you there. You can let me know a date by calling me replying to my email

    All best wishes,
    Andrea Leoncini

  2. My name is Tom Durant-Pritchard and I am the co Artistic Director of Prowl Theatre Company.

I hope you are well. I wanted to invite you to our show of ‘Sexual Perversity In Chicago’

which we are doing on the 9th December at Jermyn Street Theatre. It is on at 1 O’clock.

We are really proud of the show and we got great reviews for it when we did it at the Gatehouse

Theatre as part of the Camden Fringe back in September.

We hope it has a future life somewhere down the line and we have had meetings with a few theatres

who have expressed an interest in collaborating with Prowl Theatre Company next year.

I really hope you can make it to the show. I really want to get to meet you and for you to get a chance to see

what kind of work we do. The show runs at 50 mins, which I think is ideal for a quick lunchtime theatre break.

Please let me know if I can reserve you a ticket, and if you’d be interested in reviewing our show.

I look forward to hearing from you,

    All the best,

    Dear James,
It was very good to meet you the other night at a Christmas Carol more or less, I was wondering when your review was going to come out, I’m not pressurising you in the least, please don’t think that, I’m just interested to see what you have to say. I hope you’re well.

    • Hi Guy,

I’m pretty much ready to go. Was hoping to get some press shots into it, but think I’ll just get it out today, as planned, with a placeholder image instead. So hold tight, it’ll be with you shortly, and hopefully you won’t be dissappointed! 🙂
